Google, Verizon Said to Have Deal on Web Traffic

Verizon Communications Inc. and Google Inc. reached a deal on how to handle Internet traffic, striking their own accord on policy being weighed by U.S. officials, two people briefed by the companies said today.
…T Inc. and other companies on rules proposed by Chairman Julius Genachowski to regulate how phone and cable companies handle Web traffic such as Google s YouTube videos. Regulations or legislation that result would bind Google and Verizon as well.

Nothing to Announce
Google has nothing to announce at this point, said Mistique Cano, a Washington-based spokeswoman, in an e-mail.
The two companies have become business allies through Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S. wireless carrier, which is co-owned by Verizon. Mobile phones that use software from Google, owner of the largest Internet search engine, helped Verizon s profit this year.

An arrested woman was charged with robbing a 63-year-old New Jersey Transit bus driver and kicking out a police cruiser’s window. She took $48 from the driver.
…VINELAND A Millville woman was charged with robbing a New Jersey Transit bus driver and kicking out a police cruiser’s window Sunday afternoon.Natalie M. Tice, 21, of Millville’s Oakview Apartments, allegedly punched the 63-year-old bus driver in the head and took $48 from him.The robbery occurred at the Vineland Transportation Center, located at 106 W. Landis Ave. It was reported at 4:26 p.m.The bus driver told police he attempted to prevent Tice from boarding the bus, as she had earlier caused a disturbance while riding on his bus. Tice ignored his request and boarded the bus, then allegedly turned around and punched him, causing a cut to the left side of his head.After Tice was placed under arrest for the robbery, she was put in the rear of a police cruiser as police continued their investigation.Police pepper-sprayed Tice after she ignored an order to stop kicking the cruiser’s rear, passenger-side window. The pepper-spray reportedly had little impact in calming Tice, who kicked out the window a few…

Shaquille O’Neal has been signed to the Celtics, and Shaq says: ”I cannot wait to get to Boston to get started in pursuit of another championship.”
…Get working on those nicknames for one of the NBA biggest players and personalities, Celtics fans, because the rumor has become reality:The Celtics have signed Shaquille O’Neal.
The team confirmed on its website moments ago that the 15-time All-Star center is officially in the fold. The Celtics did not disclose terms of the deal, but the Globe’s Gary Washburn has learned it is a two-year deal worth $2.8 million.
“It is not every day that you can add a player of Shaquille’s caliber to your team,” Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge. “His past experience speaks for itself and we believe that he is a great fit for our roster.”
O’Neal, 38, posted averages of 12.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and shot 56.6 percent from the field last season in 53 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is one of the most accomplished players of his generation, a three-time NBA Finals MVP (2000, 2001, 2002) and former NBA MVP (2000).
