Fisherman Catches Alligator ‘Feeding Frenzy’ on Video
Jul 29th
A voice heard on an amazing video of 300 feeding alligators says it all.”I ain’t never seen so many gators in my life.” Ray Cason’s biggest catch earlier this month, when he went fishing at Stephen C. Foster State Park in the Okefenokee Swamp in southeast Georgia, was two videos that have made a splash on Facebook and YouTube. As of Tuesday….
…. I saw them push them to the bank and eat them.” Cason returned to the park the next morning, July 11, and shot more video. He said about 175 gators were visible. The alligators were gone by 8 a.m., according to Griffin. Although he and other wildlife officials said the waters are safe for boaters, the state park waited to be sure that wild morning. “I wouldn’t rent my boats out until they were gone,” he said. Stephen C. Foster State Park covers 80 acres. It is a small portion of the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge’s 401,000-plus acres. Webster estimates the refuge is home to about 11,000 alligators. He said he was concerned that Cason and the other boater may have been pushing the gators along and might have hurt them. “This was potentially not a safe thing to do.” But Cason said he waited several minutes for most of the alligators to clear before he proceeded. An alligator bumped the boat behind him but wasn’t injured, Cason said. The videos were posted by the Clinch County News. Cason said he hopes…

Tea Party Federation kicks out Williams over blog post - CNN
Jul 19th
The National Tea Party Federation has expelled conservative commentator Mark Williams and his Tea Party Express because of a recent racist blog post he wrote.
…”As the movement grows up, you have to act responsibly and they have to keep doing what they just did to Mark Williams and make it clear there is no space for bigots here, period,” Jealous said. Williams wrote the incendiary blog post in response to an NAACP resolution that called on Tea Party leaders to crack down on racist elements in the movement. The 101-year-old civil rights group cited signs carried at Tea Party events and racial slurs reportedly shouted at black members of Congress during the heated debate over health care as examples of racism in the movement. “Dear Mr. Lincoln,” began the fictional letter posted by Williams. “We Coloreds have taken a vote and decided that we don’t cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!” Williams went on to write that the Tea Party movement couldn’t be racist because it opposed…

Seattle, Washington (CNN) — A Seattle, Washington, cartoonist who drew a cartoon about the Prophet Mohammed has been warned by the FBI about death threats made against her by a radical cleric with ties to al Qaeda, an FBI agent said Tuesday. “She should be taken as a prime target of assassination,” terror suspect Anwar al-Awlaki purportedly…
…IslamSeattle, Washington (CNN) — A Seattle cartoonist who drew a cartoon about the Prophet Mohammed has been warned by the FBI about death threats made against her by a radical cleric with ties to al Qaeda, an FBI agent said Tuesday. “She should be taken as a prime target of assassination,” terror suspect Anwar al-Awlaki purportedly wrote about cartoonist Molly Norris in an English-language magazine called Inspire that claimed to be a publication of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. “This campaign is not a practice of freedom of speech, but is a nationwide mass movement of Americans” who are “going out of their way to offend Muslims worldwide,” the article signed by al-Awlaki continued. Al-Awlaki is himself being sought in Yemen for his alleged role as a planner of the failed bombing of a Detroit-bound passenger plane on Christmas Day last year. Norris has been advised to take precautions to ensure her safety, said FBI Special Agent Marty Prewett. “The FBI is always reviewing and assessing information…

Web Developer Sues ‘Office’ Actor Rainn Wilson
Jul 13th
A Portland Web developer is seeking $5.1 million plus damages and attorney’s fees from actor Rainn Wilson, saying the “The Office” sitcom star failed to compensate it for creating a website.
…Johnson LLP said the suit is seeking $5.1 million plus attorney fees and potential punitive damages.Think Brilliant alleges it spent approximately 18 months working with Rainn on SoulPancake.com in exchange for monthly payments of $6,000 to $9,000 and an oral agreement to provide it with an 18 percent ownership stake in SoulPancake.com and a additional 3 percent stake in SoulPancake LLC.
The defendants began making financial payments in early 2009 and continued into 2010, but never provided the legal documents to formalize Think Brilliant s ownership stake in the SoulPancake undertakings, according to the complaint. In June, Wilson informed Think Brilliant that there was no longer funding available to develop the SoulPancake project and requested that new work be put on hold for six months, or that the firm continue to work for no immediate compensation, also according to the complaint.
Think Brilliant declined. In the complaint, it said it gave SoulPancake the user codes associated with accessing the…

6 y/o Boy with NO Legs & 1 Arm Swims Better Than Most [+PIC}
Jul 11th
There’s really no other way to put this but “GABE IS THE MAN!”
…Even Ann believed her string of teaching children to swim had ended. By then, her streak had exceeded 60.
She and Ed had two biological children, six other adopted children and more than 50 foster children.
But Gabe?
Gabe, who’d had “more hair than he had body,” as Ann put it when she saw him for the first time at Huntsville Hospital, just days after his birth.
Gabe, who was four pounds, two ounces when the Marshes took him home on April 6, 2004, a then-four-day-old whose future appeared little more than being “an invalid,” in Ed’s words.
Swimming, in their view, was for children with two arms and two legs.
“He was the only child we’d taken that I had doubts about,” says Ed, 61, the retired manager of a poultry plant. “You figure, ‘What can he do?’ You figure (he’s an) invalid. But he’s a long way from invalid, as you can see.”
Look at him. He’s 6 years old, about to enter the first grade at Guntersville Elementary, a devotee of cars and macaroni and cheese.
He’s wearing his black-and-red swim suit and…

Iraq War has produced a million widows
Jul 8th
“Our life has been turned into misery and desperation,” she said. “This is what we got from occupation and the dreams of democracy: orphans, widows, homeless, displaced and fugitives.”
…So she makes ends meet by selling snacks and sodas from her home in a Shiite enclave of southern Baghdad where she moved from a Sunni area after her husband died in the tit-for-tat killings of 2007.”Our life has been turned into misery and desperation,” she said. “This is what we got from occupation and the dreams of democracy: orphans, widows, homeless, displaced and fugitives.”Nahdah Hameed, the government’s point person on women’s social affairs, puts the number of widows at about 1 million, and even though the post-invasion violence has wound down, sporadic shootings and bombings continue to widow Iraqi women.Besides the invasion, this nation of 27 million has gone through the 1980-88 war with Iran, the 1991 Gulf war, and Saddam Hussein’s brutal campaigns against the Shiites and Kurds in the 1980s and 1990s.The widows gather in dusty cemeteries. They squat on the dirt by their husbands’ graves, sobbing and murmuring remembrances under a merciless sun. Children sit in their shadows, clinging to their…
