This It How It Feels to Be Under a Nuclear Attack

We’re used to see atomic bombs images. From afar, they even look beautiful. But when one explodes near you, that immaculate light will burn your skin and make you bleed spontaneously. 65 years ago today, this is how that felt….
…my mother, my three sisters and a child of one of my sisters.
Then, I looked next door and I saw the father of neighboring family standing almost naked. His skin was peeling off all over his body and was hanging from finger tips. I talked to him but he was too exhausted to give me a reply. He was looking for his family desperately. The person in this picture was a neighbor of us. I think the family’s name was the Matsumotos.
When we were escaping from the edge of the bridge, we found this small girl crying and she asked us to help her mother. Just beside the girl, her mother was trapped by a fallen beam on top of the lower half of her body. Together with neighbors, we tried hard to remove the beam, but it was impossible without any tools.
Finally a fire broke out endangering us. So we had no choice but to leave her. She was conscious and we deeply bowed to her with clasped hands to apologize to her and then we left. About one hour later, it started raining heavily. There were large drops of black rain. I was…

Progressive Passing: Man Stricken w/Cancer Hosts Own Funeral

Toward the end of the party, the 67 y/o man was asked if he would change anything about his life. He paused, but only for a moment. His head popped up and the old bricklayer looked directly into the eyes of the man on the barstool next to him. “I might had changed how it ends.
…So it was fitting that Pete chose the Stanhope American Legion to say good-bye to about 135 of his buddies and family members.
“He’s just going, and he ain’t comin’ back,” said his friend Archie White, nodding as he explained the purpose of Saturday’s gathering.
Pete, a retired brick-layer, learned June 17 that he has lung cancer and a tumor behind his esophagus. He has a month left, maybe two.
Until he decided to host his own funeral, Pete had lived a fairly ordinary life even if there was some wreckage along the way. There was the car accident, a drunken driving arrest here and there, and a failed marriage.
On Saturday, none of that mattered.
His younger sisters, Donna and Barbara, greeted the parade of well-wishers as Pete, wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, moved among the guests, dragging his oxygen canister along behind him.
He looked at old pictures and posed for new ones.
There were hugs and kisses everywhere, and just a few tear-soaked tissues.

Casey Affleck Hit With 2nd Sexual Harassment Suit in a Month

We’ve already heard that one of the producers of Casey Affleck’s upcoming Joaquin Phoenix mockumentary is suing Affleck for sexual harassment, alleging that he created an uncomfortable work environment and attempted to sleep with her. But now there’s a second harassment suit, this time filed by his female director of photography.
…, Affleck had entered the bedroom while she was asleep and crawled into the bed. When she woke up, Affleck was curled up next to her in the bed wearing only his underwear and a T-shirt. He had his arm around her, was caressing her back, his face was within inches of hers and his breath reeked of alcohol.Gorka left the project the next day and only returned to it when a female producer (ironically the same producer who is also suing Affleck) was hired and assured her that she would always be present.
Gorka also claims that she was continually verbally berated, was denied her initial agreed-upon salary and was stripped of her on-screen credit as director of photography on the film.
No response yet from Affleck but it’s definitely seeming that the making of the movie is going to be infinitely more fascinating to watch than the film itself….

Surprisingly, this seems to something of a polarizing decision for the Gears faithful – a group of gamers who have been weaned on a steady dose of slicing countless locust hordes apart with a lancer.

Look, guys, I’m not a sadist. I don’t enjoy being a voyeur to suffering. I’d just as soon sit down with a group of Locusts and play a rousing game of Scrabble in a show of positive bi-species interaction as I would stick ‘em with grenades and run like hell. But the former just isn’t how the Gears universe works. Above all, Gears of War is a story of survival, dependence on your friends and loyalty in the face of inevitable destruction. There’s no happy ending here for anyone and that’s part of the reason that Carmine must die.
But believe me, friends, I don’t say this because of maliciousness and I’m definitely not looking forward to Carmine’s death in order to satisfy some kind of perverse gratification. Rather, Carmine’s death could serve as a fitting turning point in the overall narrative. Allow me to explain.
