Apple, known for courting consumers with sleek designs and easy-to-use software, is making inroads with corporations that say the iPad can make workers more productive without putting sensitive customer information at risk.

Apple’s iPad, released in April, took just weeks to get cleared.This time around, safeguards against security breaches are stronger from the start, according to Megan Minich, a senior vice-president at the San Francisco company. Her colleagues used two of the first shipment of 15 iPads to demonstrate financial products at an investor conference in May. More are on the way, Minich says. “We’ve got a bunch ordered that we can’t get yet,” she said. Here are the best changes and improvements made to the Starcraft series with this new title.

…The single player campaign of the first Starcraft was really straightforward. You’d complete a mission and then get flung to the next one. There were no branching paths and no real decisions to make. The sequel has changed all of this by adding some good ole RPG elements into the mix. You spend time between missions inside the ship of your protagonist, Jim Raynor. This serves as a hub of sorts, and allows you to complete a host of tasks. You can spend money to buy upgrades, which offer stat enhancements and other goodies. You can also bum around and complete small sidequests. Also, the game allows you to tackle many of the missions in whatever order you choose. These are welcome changes from the original’s obsession with all things linear….

You can cancel the plan within 30-45 days (depending on your RewardsZone membership level).3) If the item in a floor model, or other open-box item, then you can almost guarantee that you can get a better price if you ask. They simply want to get rid of that stuff, so unless you ask for a ridiculous price you will probably save some money.4) When things go on sale you can often get a price comparable to online merchants, and sometimes even better. The infamous “death grip” has stirred up quite a debate amongst iPhone users. The question we went out to answer was: “Does the death grip affect other phones as well?”

…While, some phones required unorthodox death grips in order to replicate the results consistently, all the phones involved show some signal strength reduction. The death grip is an issue for iPhone users, but it is also an issue of varying degree for many other phones on the market as well. It just happens that it’s easier to cover the iPhone’s antenna than it is on some of these other devices….

Microsoft’s Kin is dead, and Verizon just put the final stake in the heart of the tawdry technological affair. The company has opted to return all unsold Kin devices to Microsoft as of Monday.

…Microsoft’s Kin is dead, and Verizon just put the final stake in the heart of the tawdry technological affair. According to Electronista, the company has opted to return all unsold Kin devices to Microsoft as of Monday. All online sales of the Kin One and Kin Two have been suspended, and Verizon is only offering accessories for either device at this point.
Such officially ends the Kin, which was rumored to only have sold around 9,000 units by the time of its departure. Although Daring Fireball’s John Gruber puts the number at a far-lower 503, as sourced by an anonymous Microsoft employee to Business Insider’s Jay Yarrow.
As we reported in late June, it was difficult to see a future for the Kin even given Verizon’s support at the time with the Microsoft Kin team disbanded, that wouldn’t leave much in the way of resources for future device updates or other support options.
Just prior to Microsoft’s disentanglement, Verizon had even chopped the price of the Kin One and Kin Two from approximately $50 and…

What’s more annoying: vuvuzelas, or the horns from the “Inception” trailer?

…Sounds like: Cicadas on speed

Frequency: Constant. Win or lose, rain or shine, boring game or exciting game, the bzzz went on.

Purpose: Giving fans at the stadium something to do and keeping viewers at home awake during long, scoreless matches

Annoying factor: At the beginning of the tournament, high. By the end, quite low we’d gotten used to it.
