By the 1930s, it was clear that for the forseeable future, Los Angeles’ fate would be wedded to the movies - a fact that drew more money, more talent, and more crazies to the town than it could reasonably be expected to handle. And to this day, LA is still a metropolis as quirky, charming, and schizoid as anywhere in the world.
